‘London’ and ‘budget’ aren’t words that go hand in hand. But with a careful bit of planning we can all enjoy a fantastic day in the capital of England without necessarily breaking the bank.
Whilst getting a train into London is still expensive, and parking in the city centre is increasingly prohibitive, it’s nice to see how bus companies like Megabus now offer us a cut-price way to get in and out of London for little more than the price of a cup of coffee.
They say that the best things in life are free, and that’s definitely the case as you walk alongside the iconic River Thames on the South Bank. Whilst a trip on the London Eye can be pretty expensive, you can enjoy a nice walk up Primrose Hill for free and admire the fantastic views of the rapidly-growing skyline.
There’s no shortage of attractions that also prove to be surprisingly cheap. Perhaps pick of the bunch is the British Museum that’s packed full of relics from Egypt, Rome and China and is free except for a few exhibitions.
And if history isn’t your thing, then the Natural History Museum also offer a similar deal in helping you admire plenty of weird and wonderful artefacts from the natural world.
Although there are many museums that like to offer their attractions for no charge, you’d be lucky to find free food and drink in the big city.
But rather than spending too much at one of the fancy city centre establishments, there are plenty of cut-price street food outlets and budget restaurants if you’re willing to explore a little further afield.
Plus don’t forget that enjoying a picnic in one of the wonderful city parks is perhaps the best way to escape the crowds and have a relaxed meal. And seeing as Deliveroo have included some West London parks in their food delivery promotions, it shows that there are always some surprising ways that we can save some money in the city.
And finally when it comes to night-time entertainments, then there are also some great saving to be made.
There are plenty of voucher sites that are all competing to offer the best cut-price deals on anything from karaoke booths to West End theatre attractions, and it all shows how we can still enjoy the best of London without spending too much money!
