Information about this walk

Overview

The walk starts from Greenwich Pier.

There are various ways of getting to Greenwich from central London but walking isn't recommended unless you have a lot of time as Greenwich is several miles east of central London.

Getting to Greenwich Pier by boat

Ferries leave hourly from various piers on the river and the ticket price per adult for a return journey is around £12, depending on where you embark and which company you travel with.

The journey along the Thames from Westminster Bridge to Greenwich Pier takes between 40 minutes to an hour.

There is usually no need to book but you do need to buy a ticket at the ticket office in front of the pier.

A number of different companies operate riverboat services - where possible, try for the TFL service rather than one of the private companies.
